Abstract
Here we present an original approach to gray level writing images that relies on fractal methods. Some new parameters are defined that allow quantification of some handwriting properties. Some volumes in a 3D representation are computed and their evolution with respect to observation scale is used. Two properties are more precisely presented, regularity of the line drawn and regularity of the patterns involved in the writing
