Abstract :
Engaging large and small businesses to comply with environmental regulations and improve environmental performance is important if we want to solve pressing environmental problems. The ability to test and validate an environmental performance model that applies to companies of all sizes is needed. This paper describes a method for validating a Baldrige-based, environmental performance model. This model can assist businesses in achieving beyond compliance environmental improvements. Once validated, the model can also be adapted to monitor environmental performance internally and throughout the supply chain. The model could be used by regulatory organizations to provide incentives to companies that have beyond compliance environmental programs.
