Abstract :
The Ricoh Group engages in such global-scale activities as development, production, marketing, after sales service, and recycling of office equipment, including copiers, printers, scanners, and other information and electronic equipment. Consolidated group financial data for Fiscal 2001 was $16.6 billion of revenue, and $501 million of net income, with 74200 group employees worldwide. As a global citizen, the Ricoh Group aims to pursue sustainable management and to continue its environmental conservation practices. In this paper, the following two innovative and sustainable environmental technologies and associated benefits are introduce: energy saving technology while (1) improving ease of use and productivity, and (2) saving money; and copy paper saving by making duplex copies at almost the same speed as one sided copies. Sustainable technologies should offer all of the following points simultaneously to the customer, so that they can use its environmental performance without sacrificing anything: user friendly-ease of use, and high productivity with less waiting/processing time (time saving); eco friendly-saving money; and environmentally friendly-saving energy and natural resources, etc.
