Abstract :
With all its complexity, politics provides a fascinating array of communication relationships. The government of the Province of Alberta in Canada has embarked upon a program to eliminate deficit budgeting by a massive restructuring of the public sector. Changes of this magnitude cause uncertainty and the response of citizens is partially dependent on the communication strategies used. Innovative methods are being used to communicate the reasons why change is necessary and to consult with the public and experts to involve, obtain cooperation, and elicit feedback to advise government ministers
