Abstract :
Explosive driven ferroelectric generators (EDFEGs) are compact power sources that have been considered for use as seed sources for magnetocumulative generators, as well as prime power sources. Shock waves generated by high explosives are used to shock depolarize ferroelectric materials, which results in a voltage pulse being delivered to a load. These generators have been experimentally investigated at Texas Tech University. Data from these experiments was used to benchmark a code developed at the Institute of Electromagnetic Research. In this paper, a description of the simulation and a comparison of the experimental and simulation results are presented.
