Abstract :
The need for members of the public to understand science is increasing rapidly. Science underlies the technology that is changing our jobs, our homes, and our lives. It also bears on many of the political issues we must decide, especially in the area of the environment and its restoration. Scientists, however, are often uncomfortable with addressing the public. This paper describes a number of ways that scientists can share their science with the public and give the public the information it needs to make sound decisions
