Abstract :
We present experimental results of error-free unrepeatered transmission of 20 × 10 GE channels over 298 km of NZ DSF based on EDFA assisted bi-directionally TDM-pumped Raman amplification. Two identical optical units contained four pairs of depolarized high-power laser diodes emitting at 1430, 1445, 1460 and 1475 nm. The optical units were driven by a microprocessor controlled pulse generator delivering four non-overlapping trains of pulses.
