Abstract
We demonstrate a simple cost-effective broadcast overlay for WDM PON which uses a single directly modulated superluminescent diode to deliver an RF video or baseband gigabit-Ethernet service to all 32 users. We measure the performance of both an RF subcarrier-based video broadcast service as well as a gigabit-Ethernet (GbE) broadcast, and show that the performance of the WDM PON is unaffected by these overlays.
