Abstract :
The average capacity of the MIMO system in particular situation is focused for some certain communication purpose. This paper studied the capacity of a 2×2 MIMO system in correlated Rayleigh fading channels based on analytical derivation. The infinite series expression of the capacity is obtained for a 2×2 MIMO system, in the assumption that the correlation coefficient of two elements in the principle diagonal line of the channel matrix approximately equals one and that of others are approaching zeros. The result is helpful to evaluate the effect of the correlated fading channels on the capacity of the 2×2 MIMO system and is useful to the system design.
