Abstract
Hyogo Prefectural Police plans to introduce the Environment Protection Management Systems (EPMS) in 1999. To investigate the relationship between traffic noise and the current state of traffic, in preparation for the introduction of the system, noise study was conducted in 1998. In this paper we describe the outline of this research along with its analyzed results. Another issue discussed here is guidelines for reducing traffic pollution through such measures as enhancement of traffic control function, dispersion of traffic flow through offering advanced traffic information, and provision of advanced control of traffic signal
