Abstract
This work deals with the relation between gas flow and arc-extinguishing capability on two types of SF6 circuit-breakers: the conducting double-nozzle system and the self-compression system. The author discusses: the circuit breaker characteristics; pressure measurements; the differences in the gas flow intensity for interruptions and failures; interrupter geometry influence for different pressure chambers and also taking into account chamber volume; short circuit current influence; and minimum required blast intensity
