Abstract :
Characteristic of dissolved organic matter (DOM) from landfill leachate was studied during UV-TiO2 photocatalytic degradation. The results showed that the DOC and CODCr of leachate were removed effectively under optimum conditions, and the removal ratio was up to 72% and 60%, respectively. The UV spectrum indicated that the DOM of raw leachate included various large molecular organic matters and polynuclear aromatic compounds. FTIR spectrum suggested the DOM of raw leachate contained large number of aromatic compounds with hydroxyl, carboxyl, amino groups and benzene rings, which were degraded effectively by photocatalysis. GC/MS displayed that the DOM of raw leachate had 72 sorts of organic compounds, including 16, 13 and 9 kinds of ketones, alcohols and carboxylic acids, respectively; while 37 sorts of organic compounds were identified in 72 h photocatalytic effluents, including 9 and 8 kinds of esters and alcohols, as well as 3 kinds of ketones.
