Abstract :
In recent years, solid insulation electric power equipment such as solid insulated switchgear and a cast resin transformers are commonly used than the gas insulated electrical power equipment. Epoxy resin is one of the most commonly used thermosetting materials in high voltage apparatus as insulation, due to its excellent mechanical, electrical properties and chemical stability. In this paper, Nano solid dielectric materials are made and are composed of epoxy resin/silicone rubber with Nano-size fillers (SiO2). Fillers are uniformly dispersed in base. It has been reported that Nano reinforced solid insulation materials are superior to conventional insulation material in their basic characteristics such as electric, mechanical, and thermal. In particular, Nano composite insulation materials are known to have excellent resistance to partial discharges. The recent investigations has shown that epoxy/Nano composites demonstrate some advantages in both mechanical and dielectric properties compared with pure resin system and epoxy with micro meter-size. The purpose of this project is to determine the various characteristics of Nano solid dielectrics for the optimized function of power transformer. The electrical and mechanical characteristic of the solid Nano dielectric materials impregnated in insulating mineral oil and in air medium oil are investigated.
