Abstract :
Favorably accepted by drivers, our prefecture has developed a system to provide the travel time information estimated from traffic volume and time occupancy using information boards in an attempt to disperse network vehicle traffic flows. The paper gives cases of its operation. Although the best method of measuring travel time is to directly measure it, here we employed a method of calculating sectional time mean speed (travel time) using the traffic volume and time occupancy. The time information is not provided to an in-vehicle unit of each vehicle but indicated on information boards as a method of providing it to drivers at large
