Abstract :
Lord Rayleigh´s 2 dimensional (2D) whispering gallery mode (WGM) is based upon 2D total internal reflection (TIR) while 3D whispering cave mode (WCM) is based upon 3D TIR. By using the laser beam induced current technique in laser scanning microscopy we had the possibility to compare the laser structure photocurrent with the lasing emission. Similarities existing between the photocurrent density and lasing emission, offer the possibility to investigate the laser characteristics by studying the photocurrent density of the PQR laser structures.
