Abstract :
Traditionally, the gypsum fiberboard was produced with constructional gypsum. However, no researches which produce gypsum fiberboard with desulfurized gypsum were found. In this paper, the functional gypsum fiberboard is produced with desulfurized gypsum and fiber materials. The new type of gypsum fiberboard was produced through semi-dry process. The experimental setup was designed according to orthogonal test. Water/gypsum ratio, wood fiber/gypsum ratio and the type of modifier were taken into consideration as the factors that influence the properties of desulfurized gypsum fiberboard. MOR (Modulus Of Rupture ), IB (Internal Bonding strength) and TS (Thickness Swell) of the fiberboard were tested in the study. The experimental result showed that physical and mechanical properties turned out to be the best when the water/gypsum ratio was 0.55, wood fiber/gypsum ratio was 15/85 and the modifier was sodium citrate.
