Abstract
In 2006 The Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management started a programme which was called FileProof. The aim of the programme was to find, analyse and implement relatively simple solutions for the short term alleviation of congestion. The programme comprised three project streams: 1. Projects to limit regular congestion 2. Projects to limit congestion due to incidents 3. Projects to induce alternative choices by drivers to reduce congestion In total almost 60 projects were executed. In general, the cost of the projects was low and their effect significant, rendering them very good value for money. This together with the fast implementation makes FileProof a successful programme.
