Abstract :
Often, in engineering education there is much emphasis on theoretical issues, especially during the first years. Still, students should be exposed to more than just theoretical knowledge. This paper describes a project-oriented approach to undergraduate teaching in the field of electrical power engineering applied in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the K.U.Leuven University, Belgium. Two projects offered to undergraduate students of the second year are presented. The first project lets the students make their own small green power plant. The second project deals with the prediction of electricity consumption in a liberalized energy market.
