Abstract
This paper presents a new model set for the 3D maneuvering target tracking problem. This model set comprises a first model to cover the uniform motion segments with a mixed Cartesian-spherical coordinate´s system in the state vector to describe the position and the velocity and is augmented with the two turn rates corresponding to the derivative of the two velocity angle components for the maneuvering segments. Simulations on different 3D air defense scenarios show that this new approach achieve good tracking performance.
