Abstract :
In this paper we use neural network and fuzzy theory for the study on modeling and multilayer intelligent control system Design of urban expressway. First, we develop an extended version of the METANET traffic flow model to describe the evolution of the traffic flows in the urban expressway. Then the simplified model suited for traffic control approach is described by neural network. Second, we propose a multilayer intelligent control structure based on these models and in conjunction with the characteristics of traffic systems, i.e. we divide the control problems of urban expressway traffic system into organization layer, adaptation layer, optimization layer and direct control layer, trying to solve the problem of traditional control systems. Finally we give an example of simulation.
