Abstract
This paper describes experiment results aiming at analyzing the ambient temperature effect on the lifetime of commercial Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) secondary battery. In addition the paper presents the battery characteristics at extremely different ambient temperatures. To investigate this effect, a climatic chamber, has been used to simulate these conditions. Charge and discharge experimental curves of voltage versus time at different temperatures are given for temperatures ranging from -40°C to 80°C. Finally the batteries are retested at room temperature in order to study the temperature effect on the battery ageing.
