Abstract
This paper compares the Unmanned Aircraft System Industry to the Commercial Space Industry for both Economic Condition and Regulatory Framework. Both industries are within the regulatory responsibility of the Federal Aviation Administration and where Commercial Space has a very well established code of federal regulations, the UAS industry is still largely unregulated and unable to move forward with development until it is. The paper offers insight as to why this might be as a result of economic and social factors.
