  • Abstract
    In this paper, we propose the use spatial division multiplexing supported by multicore fibers (MCFs) to implement a new generation of CRAN front-haul architectures capable of addressing their main present and future challenges. The approach, which is compatible with SDN and NFV, can also support the integration of a passive optical network overlay.
