Abstract
A novel approach for efficient computation of adaptive weights in array antennas was introduced in this paper. It deals with the application of the direct data domain least-squares algorithm to adaptive antennas. This approach unlike the conventional statistical techniques requiring for a covariance matrix of sample, is based on direct spatial processing of the array data and can directly handle in non-stationary environment. This processing is done by taking the spatial averages, in contrast to conventional adaptive techniques, where processing is done by taking the time averages. Simulation illustrates the effectiveness in estimating the amplitude of signal and the improvement in signal-to-noise ratio, and it can also be implemented to operate in real-time.
