Abstract
A backstepping model reference robust control (MRRC) is used to solve the flight control problem. The main feature of the scheme is that only the plant input and output signals are needed and therefore can significantly reduce the number of sensors used in some other control schemes. The detailed design of longitudinal short period mode of an aircraft is given chiefly, and the design procedure for other modes whose relative degree is greater than one is discussed, too. The simulation results show that a perfect tracking performance can be achieved by using the design scheme.
