Abstract :
The realization of minimally invasive epilepsy surgery treatment, our goal, needs not only the localization of epileptic focus exactly and also the excision of the focus accurately by minimally invasive way. We think one of the best ways is cryosurgery. Cryosurgery is used to excise cancer of liver and kidney tumor as minimally invasive surgery. However, cryosurgery is not applied to epilepsy and the effect of cryosurgery on brain tissue is not well known. In this paper, we investigated the effectivity of cryosurgery by application to rat brains. We performed cryosurgery to rat under the several conditions. After these surgeries, we stained these specimens with H&E and observed them about the broken aresize and changes in the tissue. These results shows cryosurgery can be applied to epilepsy.
