Abstract :
The performance of the MUSIC estimator is studied by simulations if the estimator is applied for delay estimation of a direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) signal corrupted by multiple access or multipath interference. Special emphasis is on the sensitivity to estimation errors on the dimension of the signal subspace, which case is also analytically investigated. The results show that the MUSIC estimator can mitigate the effects of other DS/SS signals, if the dimension of the signal subspace is not under-modeled. Also, it is quite sensitive to a multipath signal in a fixed channel if the delay separation is smaller than the chip duration
