Abstract :
The California ISO is in the process of implementing a redesigned energy market and updating the technology infrastructure. This presentation reports the status of the first two projects from the perspective of the vendor implementing the redesigned systems. A brief overview is given of the integrated forward market. The market clearing engine is a bid based security constrained unit commitment which utilizes a mixed integer programming (MIP) solution methodology which has proven to more reliable and robust than other competing methodologies. The scheduling infrastructure business rules project provides the infrastructure used by market participants to enter bids and schedules into the CAISO systems. The application is a Web based application based on Java, and thin client model. Concepts for a service oriented architecture are described.
