Abstract :
In the birefringent fibers, pulse trapping occurs between orthogonally polarized pulses under the condition of group velocity matching. Using this phenomenon, the functions of amplification, shaping, and timing control can be obtained and all optical 3R control can be demonstrated. A large gain of 26 dB was confirmed for only 140 m of fibers. The ultrashort pulses are successfully generated from cw beam through pulse trapping.
