Abstract
This paper presents an overview of the preliminary results and the related practical experience from developing a common and modular reference architecture, an open applications framework and software applications for discrete cell control. In particular, this paper describes cell control requirements and related applications of an electronics industry, which has already been developing similar applications in-house and recognises the need for continuous improvement towards upcoming production technologies. The work presented is related to the ESPRIT project 8823 (DCC), titled “Discrete Cell Control”
