Abstract :
This paper presents the results of using a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) as a limiting amplifier to equalise bursts in future access networks. It provides an improved model of the SOA saturation characteristics and its non-linear properties in the saturation mode of operation. A method to fully recovering the distorted signal after amplification is proposed.
