Abstract
A basis for the design of a novel half band decimation filter is described. It is shown that by optimizing the decimation-filter design to the final performance specification rather than a stage-by-stage optimization, the performance goals can be achieved at lower cost, i.e., fewer computations per sample. The equations are derived and performance demonstrated against a typical specification
