Title :
Thickness dependent Q-spoiling in a thin dielectric coated cylindrical microcavity laser

Abstract :
The effect of coating thickness on Q-spoiling was investigated by measuring lasing spectra from a dielectric inner-coated cylindrical capillary, filled with a gain-doped liquid. The lasing spectra showed a blue shift as the coating thickness decreased due to an enhanced Q-spoiling of whispering gallery modes (WGMs). Cavity quality factors Q´s were quantitatively estimated from the center wavelengths of lasing. WKB model was applied in order to explain the measured Q-spoiling.
