Abstract :
This paper proposes a method that combines 3-D compression with segmentation-based coding, in which 1-D temporal decomposition by the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and 1-D wavelet packet decomposition are employed. The proposed 1-D DCT/WT consists of a variable (2-, 3-, and 4-) point 1-D DCT for effective reduction of temporal redundancy and wavelet packet decomposition for adaptive selection of spatial frequency bands. Effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by computer simulation
