Abstract :
This article outlines the synchronization mechanism of the IEEE 1588 protocol, analyzes the factors that affect the precision of clock synchronization, and proposes a new strategy about the protocol stack of IEEE 1588 for analyzing messages. According to the analysis, it uses DP83640 to implement the hardware assist circuitry for improving the precise synchronization of clocks, and builds the protocol stack and DP83640´s control platform in the MAC layer based on FPGA. All of these compose a more efficient and simple synchronization system by the connection of Ethernet, whose precision of clock synchronization is better than sub-microsecond and more suitable for requirements of the modern industrial control and measuring instrument.
