Abstract :
It is more prone to occur traffic accidents on freeway at night than during the day. The paper adopts field test and takes Changsong freeway as test object, and carries out identification distance experiment both day and night according to horizontal radius and longitudinal slope difference. Through experimental analysis, it is proved that driver´s nighttime identification distance is less than daytime with different speed except constant slope and straight sections. With the speed increases gradually, the identification distance both day and night decreased, and reduced sharply at night. The result will provide some theoretical references on nighttime speed limits for the traffic management department.
