Abstract :
Planar and capillary quadrupole electrodes for the dielectrophoresis of microparticles were fabricated and evaluated. A planar thick type quadrupole electrode provided the dielectrophoretic mobility α that is close to the calculated value. A simple fabrication method for the capillary type quadrupole electrode was developed and utilized for the separation of microparticles by the combination of dielectrophoretic force and laminar flow.
