Abstract
In this paper, we explore the performance criteria for the rejection probability reduction in WDM LANs of passive star topology. We propose a synchronous transmission WDMA protocol according which each station is capable of receiving more than one data packets during a time cycle, using more than one tunable receivers. Thus, the packet rejections at destination due to the receiver collisions are essentially reduced, providing significant performance improvement. This study expands previous studies that consider a single tunable receiver per station. The average throughput and rejection probability are analytically and taking under consideration the impact of the tunable transceivers tuning time and the propagation delay latency parameter.
