Abstract
In this paper, voltage mode (VM) and current mode (CM) control are used for controlling the peak dc-link voltage of high-performance Z-source Inverter (ZSI), where the peak DC-link voltage is estimated by measuring the input and capacitor voltages. Both controllers are designed base on small signal model using Bode diagram. The performance of both control methods is verified by simulation of a 30 kW high-performance ZSI with inductive load during start-up, and with input voltage, reference voltage and load disturbances. Both methods have a comparable response during input voltage and reference voltage step, but the current mode control has a better response during start-up, steady state operation and load step with a reduced system order and a simpler controller.
