Abstract
In this paper the CNN paradigm is used for the first time to generate and control motion in mechatronic devices. In particular it is shown that autowaves, commonly met in living systems, can be used as the basis to generate and control motion in some devices built strictly to reflect architectural paradigms met in animals belonging to the earlier rings in the evolutionary chain. Such a strategy offers an interesting starting point for the design of biologically inspired walking robots
