Abstract
In an attempt to cope with annealing effects, temperature and other dependencies, the radiation induced attenuation in optical fibres is processed at different wavelengths to extract the total dose. The validity of the approach is demonstrated for the annealing effects in low Cl, high OH pure silica fibres. The heuristic “black box” analysis is further supported through deconvolution of the absorption bands from the spectral data sets and by exploiting the kinetic properties of the bands near 600 and 635 nm
