Title :
Temperature control of heated rolls using Honeywell series 9000 controllers
Abstract :
Current sensor technology and control strategies to optimize heated roll control are briefly reviewed as background for a description of the Honeywell Series 9000 controller, a small process control system that can control heated rolls. The Series 9000 controller combines the capabilities of an industrial programmable controller and the functionality of a process control system. Programming is accomplished in a Samma-type language. The process controller or loop control module handles 32 loops of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control while combining the functionality of a programmable controller, chart recorders, and set point programmers, as well as providing an operator interface and supervisory functionality. All of the functions of the loop controller and operator interface functions are contained in the loop processor module. All configuration is done with a mouse through the configuration program which runs under Microsoft Windows
