Abstract :
Inside the SYRINX project, the CEG is assembling an experiment named ECF2 to evaluate the potential of the LTD concept coupled to the flux compression scheme. The principle of current amplification by flux compression has already been demonstrated on a small experiment, ECF1. The main characteristics of ECF2 are energy stored 3.6 MJ, 16 lines of 10 LTD stages, diameter 15 m, cost around 10 M$. The full integration is delayed by 2 months due to subcontractor problem on one piece. This time was used to work on LTD stage and system reliability with the existing stages (32). Preliminary results are correct: good current injection in the liner and in the secondary circuit, major technological details solved on stages. First shot on real load will start at the beginning of July 2002.
