Abstract :
In this paper, a VSI based series connected converter is investigated as a reactive power compensator, and detailed control system design is presented. In the proposed system, the compensator is controlled as a sinusoidal current source whose template is generated by simple control loops. In the proposed control system, there is no need for the axis transformations, like α-β or d-q, and also for reactive power calculation. This reduces the complexity and also results in good response characteristics
