Abstract
The paper reports on research in the initiation processes of a pulsed arc with a cathode spot in the forevacuum pressure range from several to hundreds of Pa. These arc operating conditions were realized in the discharge system of a plasma electron source. The arc was initiated by an auxiliary dielectric surface discharge (flashover). It is shown that stable ignition of the arc is assisted by an increase in gas pressure and flashover of ferrite.
