Abstract :
Instantaneous frequency (IF) is an important parameter in the study of non- stationary single, when instantaneous frequency is measured accurately, it has great application in electric power system single analyze, intelligent trouble diagnosis and so on. A new method for instantaneous frequency measurement which based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Time-Varying Auto- regressive Model (TVAR) is discussed in this article. It includes two parts. First, a signal is decomposed into a finite and often small number of basic components-Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF).Then, TVAR is calculated in any of the IMF signal. This new method can suppress the parts of the end effect which is caused by Hilbert transform. An example from simulation experiment is given to demonstrate its power. This new method can analyze complicated nonlinear and non-stationary signal.
