Abstract :
This paper presents a modular magnetically coupled quadratic boost converter for microsource applications. The proposed magnetically coupled modular quadratic boost converter is capable of accepting both DC as well as high frequency AC supply (generated by the microsources) unlike to the conventional implementation. If the microsource is of high frequency AC type, the controller enables the rectifier otherwise (for dc microsource) rectifier stage is bypassed. The proposed modular magnetically coupled quadratic boost converter gives high step up gain (17 to 18 times) to increase the output voltage of the microsource up to 350 V from the input voltage range of 14 V to 20 V. In the proposed converter topology, right half plane (RHP) zero gets completely eliminated for the boost operation and thus converter makes a minimum phase system enabling a simple and linear control.Verification is done on 150 W prototype by giving 40 V (peak-to-peak) AC and 20 V DC supply.
