Abstract
Many Industrial drives include rectifier-inverter systems. For its simplicity, the voltage source inverter (VSI) is usually used. But, with the on-line generation of carrier based gating signal, the duality between VSI and CSI is extended. Accordingly, feedback control strategies with voltage source inverter, (VSI) such as vector control technique can be applicable with CSI. Moreover, the problems encountered with VSI and its effect on the machine can be avoided. This paper introduces a vector controlled five phase induction motor fed from five-phase PWM-CSI. The input dc-link current to the inverter is the output from a controlled three-phase rectifier through a calculated reference dc-link current from the inverter side. MATLAB/SIMULINK is used as an assessment tool for the proposed system.
