Abstract :
With the economy and transport development, License Plate Recognition (LPR) System is a very important direction of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). In this paper, we designed and realized a real time Embedded LPR System based on Digital Signal Processor (DSP). In our system, we fully use arithmetic capability and the rich peripheral interfaces of DSP to build high speed, stability, small size, flexibility and low power consumption LPR System. This paper introduces some modules of the system in detail, including Video Codec module, External Memory Interface (EMIF) module, Universal Serial Bus (USB) module, Ethernet module, Audio module etc. After simulation and numbers of experiments, it is testified that this LPR System gets a better performance and practicability.
