Abstract :
The virtual plant growth that simulates the plant growing process by computer is an advanced topic which computer graphics be applied to agriculture. The studies in the virtual plant will provide a scientific basis for precision and sustainable agriculture. In Fractal geometry, the L-system is one of the most useful approaches of virtual plant models for its terse definiteness and super structure. Although the traditional L-system has been greatly improved in recent years, it has some disadvantages such as poor performance and weak interactivity. In this paper, a new L-system based on the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) is developed. In this model, the interaction was achieved using Java programming language. The three-dimensional virtual plant is generated when VRML be combined with Java. Experimental results showed that the new L-system is more efficient and interactive than the traditional L-system.
